Answer to Andreas critic
by Henrik
Chaim Goldschmidt (oboe, vokal, marimba,
spoons):
I do strongly believe that certain aspects of jewish
music are simply outside discussion. I believe that
most klezmer-lovers agree to the fact that you cannot
simply say: " Naftule Brandwein, Dave Tarras
or Abe Schwarz plays "Flach und ausdruckslos"
!! That would be the same as saying " I do not
like or understand klezmer-music" !
The same fact concerns the singing of Marek Immerglück
on the Shlechte Kappelle-cd "Goldene Land".
You read about Immerglück in the booklet and
you recognice that he is 86 years of age. You understand
that he is still active as shames in the Great Synagogue
of Copenhagen. You listen to his moving interpretation
of his far gone culture. You understand that he is
a living legend. And then - offcourse - you show him
great respect !! You are in the bussiness of jewish
music !! And he has all the soul that hardly any of
us -the modern klezmorim - have.
I am therefore very depressed that Andreas of "klezmer.de"
in his critics of the cd does not show the respect
for this basic jewish chein. I think it is very wrong
to write about Marek Immerglücks singing that
it is "flach und ausdruckslos" ! If Andreas
really feels this I get very, very sad. - How can
Andreas NOT feel the touch of Marek Immerglücks
crying soul ??? How can he Not hear the
shattering vibes of this soulfully telling old man??
I am sure that most other klezmer-lovers can !!! Can
you ??

Henrik Goldschmidt vermutet. In diesem Fall spreche
- arme Welt.
L´chaim, Andreas
